Oh the fun of the frequent flyer. While I have taken a job in Las Vegas, my family has yet to join me. So I fly back and forth on my days off (just slightly more expensive than driving, but time savings are worth it). Currently I am waiting for my flight which will complete my first round of frequent flyer trips to earn a free round trip (don't get that with driving either). It's not as bad for me as the media seems to want it to make it. First of all, I usually only take carry on items (not a long trip after all). That only makes my trip through security slightly longer. Even with that, security usually takes me a maximum of 15 minutes. Maybe I should be thankful that I have such luck. The thing that stinks is that you are constantly given the suggestion that if you don't get to the airport at least two hours early that you could miss your flight, so trying to schedule a shuttle ride with anything less is very difficult. Well, that's my call.

I'm really trying to get into this whole blog thing, but I guess I am just bad at spending time like this. I much prefer reading articles or watching videos (new cool feature to netflix is watch instantly). But, at the request of my family, I will continue to try to update this blog. I will try to keep it entertaining. For instance, if you notice the political statement my Meez is sporting: Cthulhu, Why vote for the lesser evil?. The Cthulhu are the creation of author H.P. Lovecraft. I know that some people are crazy about the mythos that he created; I personally have never read the books or subscribe to any ideas that he may put forth in his writings. Ahhhhhhh! Trying to keep a positive attitude. I've got a cool job (start on Thursday), but Vegas is like a different world. On the surface it looks like every other stucco city, but there is something different that you just feel. It's like an oppression that looms over you with a ray of light that you can never reach. I guess I saw this the most when I went exploring in the MGM tonight. They have a lion exhibit in the middle of the casino. At first I was excited and went and looked at the magnificent cats like dozens of tourists (I even snapped a couple of pictures with my camera phone). Then I noticed just how sad it was; there were two or three handlers in the cage with them and the handlers were shootin' the breeze while one lion chewed on a piece of rawhide while another drank from the "stream". How sad of an existence for both the lions and the handlers.
